The Summer Reading Scheme
Scéim Samhraidh um Léitheoireacht
Tipperary Libraries Summer Reading Tree commenced on Monday 2 July 2007. It was proudly sponsored by the Bank of Ireland, and open to all age groups.
For each book whihc a child read, a leaf with their name and the title of the book was placed on a Reading Tree. These trees were to be seen growing in most libraries, where space allowed, and children added their own leaves to the tree.
At the end of the event, on 31 August 2007, the blossoming trees were full thanks all you participated, as you have helped them grow. Everyone who participated will receive a reading certificate, and a commemorative medallion at a ceremony in one of the libraries near to them.
Libraries which took part were Cahir, Carrick-on-Suir, Clonmel, Killenaule, Nenagh, Roscrea, Thurles and Tipperary. The success of this year's reading scheme was due in no small part to the terrific support provided by the Bank of Ireland branch network throughout Tipperary. Their support meant that specially commissioned commemorative medals could be awared to each child who particpated.
